What Do You Claim to Know That You Have Never Examined?

There comes a point when belief stops working. The answers you were handed begin to sound hollow the moment you say them aloud, and a custom no longer strikes you as sacred merely because it has survived a few centuries. Robes, titles, reputation, and applause stop passing themselves off as truth.

Plenty of people never arrive at that point, and it costs them nothing. They live comfortably inside conclusions supplied by family, religion, society, politics, teachers, gurus and the crowd, and they defend those conclusions fiercely, because examining them would put their own identity on trial.

Others cannot live that way. They try. They stay quiet for years, performing the customs expected of them, smiling at the right moments and bowing where bowing is required, while underneath it all a question refuses to die. Is this actually true?

The Modern Rishi Movement is for that person.

A rishi is not a costume, nor a withdrawal from the world, nor a following, nor a way of speaking designed to impress people who are already confused. A rishi is one who sees, and seeing is not believing. Seeing costs something. It takes nerve to turn round and look squarely at what you have accepted, repeated and defended without ever testing it, and that nerve is rare. People talk endlessly about truth while wanting nothing more than reassurance: their beliefs confirmed, their identity protected, their fear quieted. That is not a search for truth. It is a negotiation with illusion for slightly better terms.

This Movement will not offer you those terms.

It questions what you inherited. It questions authority that cannot survive a reasonable question. It questions the stories people tell about themselves, their gods, their nations, their communities, their enemies and their place in the world. Mostly it examines the machinery underneath all of that: how perception hardens into interpretation, how interpretation hardens into identity, and how identity then quietly runs your thinking, your feeling and your conduct.

You will not be asked to follow me. There is no cult here, and no exchange of one set of beliefs for another that happens to be mine. The aim is narrower and considerably harder. It is to restore your capacity to observe, examine, understand, and act without surrendering the mind to tradition, to fear, or to the pressure of everyone standing around you.

None of this rejects ancient wisdom. It rejects the lazy assumption that everything ancient is wisdom. The great enquiry was never meant to end in the worship of the people who conducted it. It was meant to continue through anyone with the strength to look for themselves.

The Srimad Bhagavad Gita does not ask for blind acceptance. It speaks of reason, of logic, of evidence that leaves nothing ambiguous, and it points to the one who sees the same imperishable Self equally present in every being. Hold that vision honestly, and there is nothing left to feel superior about: not birth, not race, not caste, not nation, not costume, not the religious label a person happened to be born under. Yet we go on dividing ourselves, deceiving ourselves and wounding ourselves, all the while claiming to be in possession of the truth.

Enough.

The Movement begins on 15 August 2026. It is for the person standing at the edge of inherited belief who already knows that going back to sleep is not an option, who has begun to suspect that truth needs no protection from examination, and who would rather lose a comforting illusion today than spend the next forty years defending it.
