The HAPPINESS SWITCH – A REFRESHER

Unhappy?

Well, until you continue to think and believe that

a. there is someone up there, who is separate from you
b. ‘cruel planets are destroying your life
c. god is ‘testing your faith or ‘punishing’ you for your past sins
d. you will be happy only if you find a soul-mate
e. life has no meaning because you do not have what or whom you want in your life
f. some guru, baba, or amma can remove all your troubles and save you from the pain or unhappiness that might be affecting you
g. once your planetary Dasha or transit changes everything will be fine
i. your spouse is a curse in your life and that your life would have been better if you had someone else for your spouse
j. wealth, position, and power are the ways to happiness
h. you have no one to love you
i. if you could ‘woo’ someone into your life as your lover, you could be happy

and so on,

you have not taken into consideration how Karma works, you are not aware of the fundamental principles of Vedanta that teaches the truth of nondualism, and you will certainly continue to be unhappy.

So many people keep writing to me, asking me when their ‘time would change’. A lot of them have either completed their periods of Saturn or are still undergoing them. I have been saying on this site for the last seven years that Vedic Astrology is a Past Karma diagnostic system and that PLANETS AND PLANETARY PERIODS DO NOT CAUSE ANYTHING IN YOUR LIFE.  Have I not been stressing the importance of studying the Srimad Bhagavad Gita and internalising the non-dualistic philosophy and the principle of Cause and Effect that it teaches? Yet, people continue asking me which temple they could go to or what ritual or ‘astrological remedy’ they could perform in order to set their lives right.

This is a general reply that I would like to give to all those who have been asking me similar questions. Let us begin by getting certain facts clear.

We are the same ALL-PERVADING SELF, BRAHMAN OR KRISHNA, that RESIDES IN CONTAINERS called BODIES. You are free to visualise the ALL-PERVADING SELF OR BRAHMAN in any form, but the fact remains that, as per Advaita Vedanta, everything is one and that there is no separate God, being, ghost, spirit, or anything else sitting up there in the clouds.

SBG 12:05 Those whose minds are set on an unmanifested and impersonal Absolute Power, face difficulties in reaching the goal. This is because people always identify with the body and when there is no perceptible form, it is difficult to perceive.

It is not the Advaita Vedanta but organised cults and religions that stand and thrive on the idea of a separate god in heaven.

SBG 10:20 I (KRISHNA) am the Self, O Gudakesha (Arjuna), situated within all living entities. I am the origin, the middle and also the end of all beings.

Avadhuta Gita 1:34 There are no Vedas, no worlds, no gods, no sacrifices. There is certainly no caste, no stage in life, no family, no birth. There is neither the path of smoke nor the path of light. There is only the highest Truth, the eternal Brahman.

In that case, who does one pray to? To ONESELF, of course! It is only because of that abstract phenomenon called EGO that one does not realise the truth that they themselves are the ALL-PERVADING SUPREME BRAHMAN or KRISHNA and therefore need to resort to various methods of ‘connecting’ with their true SELF.

Your AWARENESS is the ALL-PERVADING SELF that uses the mind as an interface between yourSELF and your senses through which you perceive what you call reality.

Unhappiness, dissatisfaction, anger, jealousy, hatred and other such destructive feelings arise from the inability TO COME TO TERMS WITH A SITUATION OR SITUATIONS – at least TEMPORARILY.

Think about it – the moment you come to terms with something that has been disturbing you, you feel fine. This is what family, friends or well-wishers do when you happen to be livid with rage due to whatever reason. They tell you to calm down and actually talk you into COMING TO TERMS WITH THE SITUATION, at least for that moment.

Happiness is a STATE OF MIND, that’s all. Learn to master your mind and find the SWITCH to YOUR OWN HAPPINESS so that you can turn it on whenever you wish, keep it on all the time and not depend on someone who would claim to truly love you and promise to be with you until the end, or on some object that can flip your happiness switch.

Your Karma, through your thoughts, words and deeds, and all that happens in your life and beyond are directly interrelated.

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY and TAKE CONTROL.

Be a RESPONSIBLE SOUL.

Those, who are serious about changing their lives might want to consider going through the following videos and posts:  They have all been created based on experience and knowledge gained through years of study. You could also simply ignore it and continue with whatever you were doing.

Stay Blessed.

Jai Shri Krishna
