The Belief Factor: How Our Views Shape Conflicts

The Power and Perils of Belief

This is about the critical exploration of ‘belief’. After extensive studies and observations, I’ve come to understand that ‘belief’ is the pivotal word we should all be examining and working on. It is the root cause behind many disagreements that have the potential to escalate into serious conflicts, crime, violence, and even wars between nations.

The term ‘belief’ can be defined as an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof.

Whether it’s a small dispute among family members, friends, or colleagues, or larger-scale disagreements between nations, beliefs—or rather, the lack of respect for individual beliefs—are the seeds that grow into major conflicts. Not to forget that a belief held so strongly it leads to major showdowns between individuals or separations between couples can, in the future, contradict the philosophy of the same person as they evolve.

Through a series of insightful videos, I aim to shed light on how deeply ingrained beliefs influence our interactions and shape the world around us.

Embrace Knowledge: Navigating Jupiter’s Celestial Shift with Rationality

Today marks a celestial event in Vedic astrology, as Jupiter transitions from Aries to Taurus. While astrologers capitalise on this period, exploiting superstitions for profit, it’s crucial to approach such phenomena with rationality.

The generalised astrological prediction I can give everyone is that this particular transit will be excellent for all, particularly for those who have been good ‘students of life’ so far. I mean those who have taken steps toward self-improvement.

Jupiter, a colossal planet dwarfing Earth in size, symbolises wisdom and enlightenment. Though approximately 1,300 planet Earths could fit within it, attributing literal powers to Jupiter is a misconception often exploited by astrologers.

Instead of seeking material fulfilment through planetary worship, let’s delve into the deeper significance of Jupiter. Known as ‘Guru’ in Sanskrit, it embodies the concept of removing darkness through knowledge.

Traditional notions of a Guru, centred on appearance, are demolished in ancient texts like the Bhagavata Purana. Sage Dattatreya’s 24 + 1 Gurus, including the earth, birds, trees, rivers, and more, highlight wisdom’s universal availability in nature. These unconventional mentors, devoid of long beards or specific attire, signify that wisdom transcends outward appearances. 

True enlightenment arises from a hunger for knowledge and gratitude for wisdom. It fosters peace, kindness, and generosity, nurturing a perpetual curiosity like a child’s.

Both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ experiences have one thing in common: they are great learning experiences, offering valuable lessons. As Steve Jobs famously said, “Stay hungry, Stay foolish,” advocating for a perpetual quest for knowledge.

This major celestial shift serves as a reminder to transcend ignorance and embrace learning and observation. The Srimad Bhagavad Gita echoes this, stating that there is nothing more purifying than knowledge.

Unlike organised religions, Vedanta encourages seeking, experiencing, and internalising knowledge. By relinquishing superstition and embracing enlightenment, we navigate life’s complexities with clarity, attaining higher levels of bliss and fulfilment.

Unveiling the All-Pervading Truth: Beyond Form and Duality
In the whole of existence, Vedic Dharma offers a profound perspective on the ultimate reality: Brahman or Krishna. This all-encompassing truth transcends the limitations of the physical world, often described as an illusion (Maya).

The Impermanence of the Seen
Our senses perceive a world of sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures. Yet, these are mere appearances, ever-changing and impermanent. The true essence lies in the unchanging, formless Brahman – SatChitAnanda (Existence, Consciousness, Bliss).

Beyond Duality: The Oneness of All
Understanding Brahman shatters the illusion of duality. We are not separate entities, but expressions of the one divine consciousness. This dispels the misconception that some beings are more divine than others. All are equally part of the all-pervading truth.

The Illusory “I”
The ego, the sense of “I” and “me,” arises from our identification with the physical body. True knowledge lies in recognising the Self as a witness, not an actor. The question of origin (“Where do I come from?”) becomes irrelevant, for the eternal Brahman has no beginning or end.

Understanding through the Shlokas
The downloadable PDF files containing five Shlokas (verses) from the Bhagavad Gita below offer a glimpse into this all-pervading divinity. Studying these verses can help seekers awaken to the divine essence within and around them.

Moving Beyond Rituals
While rituals have their place, true spiritual growth comes from the knowledge and experience of Vedanta, the core philosophy of Vedic Dharma. Vedanta guides us towards realising the oneness of Brahman and dissolving the illusion of separation.

A Word on Anthropomorphism
It’s important to acknowledge that descriptions of Brahman or Krishna using human-like forms (anthropomorphism) are simply tools to aid comprehension. The ultimate reality is beyond such limitations.

The Wisdom of the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad
The profound statement “Aham Brahmasmi” (I am Brahman), from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 1.4.10 of the Yajur Veda, encapsulates the essence of non-duality. It reminds us that our true nature is inseparable from the all-pervading Brahman.

Embrace the Oneness
By shedding the veil of illusion and embracing the non-dual nature of Brahman, we can cultivate a life filled with peace, understanding, and connection to all beings.
