Can you control the wind?

चंचलं हि मनः कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद् दृढम् |
तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम् || ६ ३४ ||
chanchalam hi manah krushNa
pramaathi balavad drud-ham
tasyaa-ham nigra-ham manye
vaayoriva sudush-karam (SBG 6:34)

(Arjuna said) The mind is certainly restless, turbulent, strong and unyielding, O Krishna! I think it is extremely difficult to control it, just as the wind is. (SBG 6:34)

कामक्रोधवियुक्तानां यतीनां यतचेतसाम् |
अभितो ब्रह्मनिर्वाणं वर्तते विदितात्मनाम् || ५ २६ ||
kaama-krodha-viyuktaanaam
yateenaam yata-chetasaam
abhito brahma-nirvaaNam
vartate viditaat-manaam (SBG 5:26)

Those who are free from passion and anger, who have their minds under control, who have realised the Self and are constantly aiming for perfection, are sages who are assured of liberation in the Supreme Brahman. (SBG 5:26)

Teaching or practising duality in spirituality amounts to belittling and disrespecting the All-Pervading Divine Principle known as Paramartha Tattva.

लभन्ते ब्रह्मनिर्वाणमृषयः क्षीणकल्मषाः |
छिन्नद्वैधा यतात्मानः सर्वभूतहिते रताः || ५ २५ ||
labhante brahma-nirvaaNam-
rushayaha ksheeNa-kalma-shaaha
cchinnad-dvaidhaa yataat-maanaha
sarva-bhoota-hite rataaha (SBG 5:25)

Those who are free from all sins, whose minds are disciplined and are beyond dualities arising out of doubts, and who are always engaged in the welfare of all living beings, are Rishis (holy people) who attain Brahmanirvana (liberation). (SBG 5:25)

The SELF in you is Brahman.

योऽन्तःसुखोऽन्तरारामस्तथान्तर्ज्योतिरेव यः |
स योगी ब्रह्मनिर्वाणं ब्रह्मभूतोऽधिगच्छति || ५ २४ ||
yo’ntaha sukho’ntaraa raamas-
ta thaantar jyotir eva yaha
sa yogee brahma nirvaaNam
brahma bhooto’dhigacchati (SBG 5:24)

One who is happy from within, rejoices within, and is illumined within, is a yogi. Such a yogi attains self-realisation, complete freedom, and becoming Brahman, he attains Brahma nirvana or salvation. (SBG 5:24)

स्थिरबुद्धिरसंमूढो ब्रह्मविद् ब्रह्मणि स्थितः || ५ २० ||
na prah-rshyet-priyam praapya
nodvijet-praapya chaapriyam
sthira-buddhir-asammood-ho
brahmavid brahmaNi sthitaha (SBG 5:20)

A person with a clear understanding of the Supreme Brahman has a detached and stable intellect. Such a person neither takes pleasure in receiving something pleasant nor does he grieve on receiving something unpleasant. He is always situated in the transcendent state of Brahman. (SBG 5:20)

kaama–krodhod-bhavam vegam
sa yuktah sa sukhee naraha (SBG 5:23)
A person, who, before giving up his body, is able to withstand urges of desire and anger that are generated in him, is a self-controlled and happy Yogi. (SBG 5:23)

nirmamo nirahankaaraha
sa shaanti madhigacchati (SBG 2:71)
The person, who has renounced attachment to all sense objects, has no greed, has no sense of ownership, and is free from false pride, attains peace. (SBG 2:71)

स शान्तिमाप्नोति न कामकामी || २ ७० ||
aapuurya-maaNamachala-prathist-ham
samudra-maapaha pravishanti yadhvat
tadvat-kaamaa yam pravishanti sarve
sa shaanti-maapnoti na kaama kaami (SBG 2:70)
He, who is steady in spite of the never-ending flow of desires just like the ocean is although so many rivers enter it, can attain peace. But one who is desirous of pleasures cannot achieve it. (SBG 2:70)
