20 minute Mantra Meditation

*Please read the following before commencing the Mantra Meditation Session of about 20 minutes.

Namaste.

Sanskrit is an ancient and  perfect language.  Its sounds are mesmerising and simply wonderful. Correct pronunciation and intonation of Sanskrit Mantras work wonders on the psyche of the person chanting them or listening to them while meditating. For more on Mantras click here ‘The power of Mantras’ .

Please follow the following steps before starting your meditation session.

Please dim the lights and sit on the floor in the Padmasana position. Those who are not used to the Asana, may simply sit cross legged comfortably on the floor. This is a short Mantra meditation session during which we shall be sensing the vibrations of the grand system that controls the universe. I shall be chanting a few powerful Sanskrit Mantras which are indeed very effective.

Mantras are syllables, words, phrases or quatrains that are chanted, sung, said aloud or even repeated in the mind.

You can decide just before the Mantra Meditation Session what you would like to achieve through it. You could wish for just peace of mind or you could also wish to charge yourself up with a lot of energy that you may need to face a very tough situation that may require you to be absolutely fearless and brave. Mantra Meditation empowers you with divine and cosmic energy. The System will never let you down until you respect and believe that you are a responsible part of it. However tough a situation may be, you will come out of it as a winner and this is because until you respect the System, you will be well protected and cared for.

Please sit erect, open your shoulders with your chest slightly out and close your eyes. Prepare yourself to receive Divine energy into your body through your Heart Chakra or the Anaahata Chakra, which is situated just below your breast bone.

While chanting Mantras, the frequency of our mental vibrations, increases to such an extent that it resonates with the frequency of Mother Nature. Regular chanting of Mantras rewards us with peace and clarity of mind and above all helps us focus our mental energy on whatever we want to achieve.

Now, please let all your other thoughts vanish from your mind in order for you to be able to feel the Universal Power and Energy. Be ready to reach out and feel the power of the system. All of us are connected to the system like the pearls on a string.

It’s just you and the Power with no one or nothing else in between.

We will begin by invoking Ganesha who will remove all obstacles in life and make the path clear for you. Imagine that you are at His feet appearing tinier than the tiniest creature. So huge and magnificent He is.

We will then pray to Lord Shiva asking Him to protect us from all kinds of miseries and troubles. He is the Father of all creation and He is all powerful. We will then pray to the Mother Shakti the feminine power and energy. Shiva and Shakti form the basis of energy. One without the other is incomplete and half as powerful.

We will then perform an imaginary Pooja of Lord Shiva by reciting the Shiva Manasa Pooja.

After the Shiva Maanasa Pooja, we will pray to the ferocious Lord Nrsimha who is an Avatara of Bhagavan Vishnu. He can cause the death of even death- personified.

We invoke the energy and the blessings of Aditya Bhagavan or the Sun. The Sun is the source of all energy and light. But for the Sun, nothing in the solar system would have ever existed. Bhagavan Sri Rama had to chant this Mantra three times in order to finally destroy Ravana the invincible, who was the epitome of vanity and arrogance. Please visualise strong rays of light entering into your Heart Chakra directly from the Sun in order to experience the influx of energy of the Aditya Hridayam Mantra.

This is followed by the Shanti Mantra which is a prayer for peace and prosperity for everyone in this world.

We will end this Mantra Meditation Session with three verses from the Gita followed by the first verse of the Krishnashtakam.

Jai Shree Krishna
