Never in recorded history, has a leader of one religion ever sacrificed his own life in order to save another religion and to protect its followers. On the 11th of November 1675 the one and only Guru Tegh Bahadurji was publicly beheaded on the order of the barbarian aurangzeb. The grand sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadurji and also that of all the other great Gurus and thousands of fearless Sikh men and women can never be forgotten.
A very close friend of mine recently took me on a tour of some wonderful Gurudwaras in Punjab. We started with a visit to the magnificent and awesome Golden Temple or Harimandir Sahib in the city of Amritsar. I ended the tour of Gurudwaras with a visit to Anandpur Sahib where the head of Guru Tegh Bahadurji was cremated by his son Guru Gobind Singhji on the 16th of November 1675.
After Guru Sahib was beheaded, it was the brave Bhai Jaita who managed to collect his head and carry it to Anandpur Sahib. It was very moving and heart rending to be physically present at the places where the brave Sikhs were so brutally tortured by barbaric invaders.
